LAGOS: Man with toy gun allegedly rapes woman in Lagos

The suspect was also brought before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court by a police prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbbokhan, on four counts bordering on robbery, assault and rape.
They also reportedly inflicted wounds on his head.
Not done, the suspects reportedly went to one Esther’s apartment. It was gathered that when Esther told them that she had no valuables, they took turns to rape her.
Aigbokhan told the court that the offences contravened sections 299, 297(2)(a) and (b), 175, 260(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015The charges read in part, “That you, Joseph Nwadinobi, and others at large, on March 16, 2017, at about 6am, on Ajileye Street, Ijedodo, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves while armed with toy guns, knives, cutlasses and other weapons, did steal one laptop, four phones, a clipper, camera, foodstuffs and cash sum of N36,000, property of one Maurice.
“That you, Joseph Nwadinobi and others at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully have sexual intercourse with one Esther without her consent, thereby committing an offense punishable under Section 260(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
The defendant’s plea was turned down by the presiding magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Akokhia.
The magistrate ordered that he should be remanded in prison and adjourned the case till September 12, 2017, for mention.
