American news network, CNN, has mocked Nigeria, asking where is President Muhammadu Buhari. The Nigerian president has not been in the country for over two months and the news television in a query on its website on Sunday asked which “head of state from which country has not set foot in his homeland in over two months?” The mockery came in the latest edition of CNN’s “The Global Public Square (GPS)” show anchored by Fareed Zakaria. In an apparent mockery of Nigeria and her President Muhammadu Buhari, CNN, on its programme displayed at 4:59pm local time on Sunday, asked,“The head of state from which country has not set foot in his homeland in over two months?” It went ahead to tick an option with the name Nigeria as the correct answer. The options were given as Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Nigeria and Syria. Barely hours after Star Boy Wizkid returned to Nigeria, he's back in the news.. The singer got into a fight with a fan at a night club in Lagos, hours after arriving Nigeria. According to witnesses who claimed to have been at the scene, trouble started when a fan walked over to take a photo with the singer and Wizkid, was not okay with it, leading to an altercation. The police at Idimu Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Fayomi Solomon early on Wednesday foiled a robbery operation that took place at Zenith Bank Plc branch at Egbeda, Lagos. During the operation, one of the robbers died as a result of injury he sustain in a gun battle with the Police while the second suspect was arrested alive. The police also recovered short locally made gun and live ammunition including the motorcycle they used to operate in Lagos. An early morning fire, on Sunday engulfed offices and warehouses destroying property worth N500m in Oyo State. According to reports, the fire was caused by an electric spark from an unidentified store in a storey building around 2.00 am 32 out of 72 shops containing Agricultural produce, chemicals, provisions, mobile phones accessories, building materials and a plywoods on the ground floor were completely burnt. A security guard, and neighbors living around the area, noticed heavy smoke from the roof of the building, but efforts to put it out the fire were abortive, as the fire increased. The response from the fire service was not swift  when they were contacted.  However, secretary to the Oyo State Government, Olalekan Alli and Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi on security matters, Segun Bolarinwa, visited the scene, Sunday afternoon to confirm the incident and the level of destruction. 

Two warring communities of Ababene and Iyamitet in Obubra local government area have signed a peace pact.Speaking at the occasion which was held at the boundary between the traditional clans of both communities, the people unanimously agreed that never again would they carry arms against each other. The chairman of the peace and Reconciliation committee, Hon Ernest Irek expressed delight that peace has returned to the communities after several months of war. According to him, with the signing of the peace accord, both communities will continue to live like brothers and sisters like it has always been. The facilitator of the peace accord and a son of Mbembe land, Mr Chris Agara said bringing peace to all warring communities in Obubra has always been his desire and was happy that, God has been able to use him to bring peace to the Ababene and Iyamitet communities. Popular Yoruba actors, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin and Odunlade Adekola, were on Saturday attacked by armed robbers, Premium Times reports. According to Mr Latin, they were returning from a Glo Music show when they ran into the robbers on Sagamu road. “We left Ijebu-Ode after the show and heading to Abeokuta, when at about 7.30 p.m. we ran into the armed robbers already stationed themselves on the road,” he said. Latin said everyone abandoned the vehicles and fled into the bush, where they stayed for two hours. The thieves ransacked their vehicles and carted away valuables including money and mobile phones. “We took to our heels as the robbers pursued us with guns. We were in the bush for about two hours, before we later regained freedom after the robbers left the scene,” Mr Latin explained. He said some vigilante members later came to their rescue and they were taken to Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu for medical treatment

Argentine and Lazio midfielder, Lucas Biglia, has joined the Italian giants AC Milan on a three-year deal from Serie A for an undisclosed fee. Biglia won four Belgian titles with Anderlecht before moving to Lazio in 2013. He scored four goals in 29 league appearances last season as Lazio finished fifth.“AC Milan are delighted to announce the signing of Lucas Biglia from SS Lazio. The Washington Post cited  US intelligence officials as saying the UAE had orchestrated the posting of incendiary quotes attributed to Qatar's emir that he insisted were fabricated. The incident helped spark a diplomatic rift between Qatar and its neighbours. Qatar said the report "unequivocally proves that this hacking crime took place". However, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash told the BBC on Monday the Post's report was "untrue". He also reiterated that the UAE and five other Arab nations had not written to Fifa to demand that Qatar be stripped of the right to host the 2022 World Cup. A female suicide bomber struck early Monday morning, killing 10 worshippers who came for prayers at a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State. The incident came on day after Borno State Police command said two boys, aged 8 and 10, came in contact with Boko Haram terrorists who strapped one of them with IED. The bomb later exploded killing Gambo Bukar, while his friend, Umar Bukar sustained injuries and was hospitalized.

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Sunday debunked speculations that release date for the May/June 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results may be extended. The exam body confirmed that the results were ready and would be released on Wednesday July 19 by the Head of the Nigeria National Office, Mr Olu Adenipekun. Six countries have demanded FIFA strip Qatar of the 2022 World Cup. The nations, who have cut diplomatic ties with the Gulf state last month, also threatened a boycott. They are: Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Mauritania, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt. Their request was confirmed by FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, according to Reuters. “The countries warned FIFA of the risks threatening fan and player security in a country that is ‘the base and the castle of terrorism,'” Infantino is quoted as saying. Infantino said the the countries cited Article 85 of the FIFA Code, that allows changes to be made to World Cup hosts in case of emergency. The Knights of St. John International and Ladies Auxiliary, KSJI, an Order within the Roman Catholic Church, has advised Priests and faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara to fully comply with the directive of Pope Francis, regarding accepting Bishop Peter Okpaleke, ordained Bishop for the diocese. Bishop Okpaleke, was appointed Bishop of Ahiara by then-Pope Benedict XVI in 2012, but has been unable to take control of the diocese because of protests by the majority of priests. Okpaleke was later ordained a bishop in May 2013. The ordination took place not in the Ahiara diocese but at a seminary in the Archdiocese of Owerri.
